apibrėžtis Tradicinis senovės graikų Olimpijos žaidynių atidarymo ceremonijos ritualas – atletų prisistatymas ir pasižadėjimas garbingai rungtyniauti. Olimpijos žaidynių priesaika būdavo duodama ant aukuro degant Dzeusui aukojamai aukai (dažniausiai šerno širdžiai, kepenims ir plaučiams, suvyniotiems į to paties šerno odos gabalą). Pakėlęs dešinę ranką, kiekvienas atletas tardavo šiuos žodžius: „Prisiekiu, kad esu tikras helenas! Prisiekiu, kad mano rankos nesuteptos nekaltai pralietu krauju! Prisiekiu, kad nesu nusidėjęs dievams! Prisiekiu, kad į varžybas atvykau dešimt mėnesių sąžiningai mankštinęsis! Prisiekiu varžybose nevartoti klastos bei apgaulės! Prisiekiu atiduoti visas savo jėgas galingojo Dzeuso garbei, ir tegu jo valia lemia mano likimą!“
